Where am I now??

How long have I been in British Columbia now? Twelve Days! Wow. I have been having fun, and I did write a big update last Friday but then the internet window closed on me and I lost it. So I have now decided to write my entries on Word or Works or in Notepad just so I know it won't bog up and close on me.

I have fetched myself a calendar and some sustenance (brownie) to get me through this entry!

Well for the past time I've been here I've been to Victoria twice, explored Duncan, spent almost all my money and I've gone swimming a lot! Victoria is as beautiful as always, I went and saw Symphony Splash there! It was the Victoria Symphony playing music outside on a stage in the harbour. Very cool. I also held a tarantula and a scorpion at the bug zoo in Victoria!

August 6 Saturday!

I ended up waking up early at about 8-ish to go to the market with my Grandad and Letty. We went there to pick up some veggies, and then went to this coffee place, that I am so in love with I never want to leave here, because we do not have a coffee place like this in Lindsay. Everything made at this place is organic, and they have many vegan foods, and even vegan brownies and cookies! The food at this place is very good, so if anyone is ever in Duncan, you must go to the Duncan Garage. It has an extremely complicated name eh?

I also went to this place that is a therapeutic farm, where I took a bunch of pictures. Luckily my grandad is letting me use his cannon power shot, so I'm not using up all my film

August 7 Sunday!
Today we went to Parksville, a town North of where I am staying on the island. Parksville is know for its sandy beach. It is quite nice actually and it is quite close by to Qualicum beach! We set out at an early-ish time to go there. We stopped at a Starbucks in a Chapters just a bit outside of Nanaimo. Grandad wanted this music magazine. I found it a bit weird though when we first got in there, because we were there searching the section where he usually finds it and there are these two people side by side facing the shelf looking at some magazine. You could hardly see the shelf, and they were almost right up against it. There I am getting as close as possible and peering round to see if I can find this magazine and the two people just stand there. Finally and say quite loudly "Do you mind letting me through?" And the guy says "No, no not at all" and he moves over like two steps, blocking half of the shelf. I finally just left and went to order my drink with Steph, my sister. She had the awesome idea of getting these pretzel stick things that are covered in chocolate. If you ever see them at Starbucks I say now buy them! They are delicious, even if the coffee isn't.
We did get the magazine in the end, it was a BBC classical music magazine, that I am really not sure of the name of.
We ended up getting to Parksville at about lunch time, but we went to the beach anyway. It was amazing the water was like so far out, because of the tide. Also, since the slope into the bay there is very very small the water was like a kilometer out from where it would be when the tide was in. We walked out to the water, but first we crossed this city of barnacles stuck to rock, I felt a bit bad as a few of them were crushed under my foot. Then we passed a few in beach ponds with lost of crabs running about, until we finally reached the waters edge. I went in and found myself tripping over hundreds of live sand dollars. When they are alive they are black and covered spines that have their cilia on them. They were very cool even if I did stub my toe. I found a bunch of dead ones and collected them. I think I managed to find about twenty or so, so look out, everyone will be getting sand dollars as prezzies.
For lunch we ended up going to this place called Bugsy's which I think they were trying to use the 20's / 30's as the theme. They have over 100 different martini's there and I think they were trying to make it seem like a bit of a speakeasy. I found it amusing that they were playing country music in there, not old stuff but new stuff. It was amusing. I was most astonished by what I had for lunch. The waitress comes and there is this mountain of mushrooms on this plate, then she sets it in front of me. I finally notice that under this mountain is the rest of my burger. I have never seen so many mushroom on a burger, but it was also extremely yummy!

Well that was most of today, but I did watch the Life and Death of Peter Sellers after dinner. I had seen it before, but my grandparents haven't so I thought they'd like it and we rented it from Blockbuster. And now I am here feasting on brownies and chips.
